Summary: Fast Fact — Stonebridge Golf Club rewards your hole-in-one with a seven-day resort vacation! In this Q&A with Stonebridge’s General Manager and Golf Pro Jeff Dayton, you’ll see what else makes him and Stonebridge unique to the New Orleans area.

Jeff Dayton has been the general manager of Stonebridge Golf Club in Gretna for more than four years. The Belle Chasse resident has also been a fully-certified Class A PGA Member since 1994.

The editorial staff of Golf Crescent City caught up with Dayton to discuss the benefits of playing at Stonebridge.

Golf Crescent City: You are a Yankee from the northeast (and have even admitted to being a Baltimore Ravens fan). What is it that drove you to New Orleans and the Stonebridge Golf Club?

Jeff Dayton: For the record, I don’t consider myself a Yankee (hate the word). I was born south of the Mason Dixon line in Maryland, lived in South Carolina for 18 years, and only lived in New Jersey for 2.5 years before moving to NOLA. I am a proud Ravens fan (and also Orioles – another reason I hate the word Yankee) and transferred within my Company, KemperSports, to NOLA to reinvigorate Stonebridge Golf Club. My family loves the South.

GCC: What sets the Stonebridge course apart from most?

JD: Our friendly staff, our ability to host 27-hole events, our monthly promos where every regular fee player receives a sleeve of balls and a chance to win our monthly driver drawing. We are also the only course in town that offers “Footgolf,” the only course in town that has UNO, a program where, in 2016, any golfer who scores a hole in one will receive an eight-day, seven-night stay for two at one of our triple diamond resorts in Mexico. We have given one trip out, year-to-date.

GCC: Stonebridge’s signature hole is ….

JD: No. 4 – a tight straightaway par 4 that is as narrow as Bourbon Street.

GCC: Is your signature hole also the toughest to play?

JD: One of the toughest.

GCC: What type of golfer can particularly excel at Stonebridge?

JD: To excel at any course you must have some skill, but we offer five sets of tees so all levels of players can enjoy the game.

GCC: Have you had any famous celebrities (sports or entertainment) who have played at Stonebridge?

JD: (Actors) Samuel L Jackson and Katt Williams; (NFL football players) Ed Reed and Ricky Jackson.

GCC: Nice! So, I’m guessing your line of work is pretty enjoyable?

JD: Very…doesn’t feel like work most of the time.

GCC: What are the best parts of your job?

JD: Being able to look out of my window and see a golf course and all the people I get to interact with.

GCC: Complete this sentence: “If there is one area of my golf game that I’d like to improve, it would be …”

JD: “… playing more.”

GCC: Why should someone play Stonebridge?

JD: We offer the best value with the friendliest staff, and we offer excellent playing conditions.
