Golf Crescent City Course Reviews in One Place

Abita Springs

Yelp.com 4 out of 5 stars. Only 3 reviews, two were good, one was bad. In general, the course is a good value. The course isn’t too hard to play, but does have hidden water hazards that can really mess up a game if you make a bad shot. The course is well manicured and kept up. The customer service is fair to good, but the one bad review was about poor management/ customer service and miscommunication between staff and the customer.
GolfAdvisor.com 3.5 out of 5 stars. Out of 51 reviews. The overall review is that the course is okay, good, fair, nice and a good value for the money. Many like the rustic, far-away-from-the-busy-city vibe that it has as well as the wildlife. It’s a fun course, but does have some sneaky challenges that you have to watch out for. The bad reviews were mostly about the course not being in great condition, feeling like although it’s not very expensive – there are still better courses, and that it gets very crowded, especially with inexperienced golfers.
GolfCourseRanking.com 4 out of 5 stars. Only 3 reviews. Challenging course and in good condition. All would come back to play.
Facebook 4.5 out of 5 stars. Out of 50 reviews. Good course for beginners and proficient players.
GolfLink.com 4 out of 5 stars. Great scenery, wildlife, and good deal for money. Rated high for difficulty, but reviews still pointed out that the course is fun and well-maintained.

Abita Springs ranks 4 out of 5 stars, based on ratings from Yelp, GolfAvisor.com, GolfCourseRanking.com, Facebook and GolfLink.com. The biggest factor that keeps golfers coming back to Abita Springs is that the course is a great value for the money and is on average, well-maintained and in fair to good condition. The rustic, escape-from-the-city vibe of the course is a plus for many golfers, as well as the course being somewhat challenging, but still fun and a good course to play for golfers of all skill levels. While being both fun and challenging, there are a few sneaky water hazards that can put a damper on your game if you’re not careful. Overall, Abita Springs is a fun, reasonably-priced course for both beginning and proficient golfers.

Great value – definitely not TPC or a resort type course, but a really good course for the price. Recommended as the best affordable course to play at. Some complain about flooding and damage to course, but many including owners have explained that because of the course being in the delta region and heavy rains, this is common and is always fixed.

North Course at City Park

Golf Advisor 2 out of 5 stars, 22 reviews. Mostly poor reviews due to the course undergoing renovations and having temporary greens. Very cheap to play here but the course is currently in such bad shape that it’s not worth it. The temporary greens are spray painted on the fairway which is upsetting to some people. Not for skilled golfers but more for beginners or average golfers.
Facebook 3.6 out of 5 stars. Decent and good starter course.

It’s safe to assume that once the renovations are complete, the course will be back to normal and full of improvements.

Oak Harbor

Yelp 3 out of 5 stars, 5 reviews. Huge course, don’t walk it. Not too challenging but not easy either. Fun to play for the money. In fair shape but not great.

However, this course is highly recommended by golfers and some reviewers consider it the best in the area for it’s price. The course is challenging even for skilled golfers, but isn’t so bad that it’s daunting.

Oak Knoll

Yelp 4 out of 5 stars, 1 review. Reasonably priced, fun course, well-maintained. Greens were patchy but it’s due to poor weather.
Golf Advisor 3 out of 5 stars, 16 reviews. Overall positive reviews for the course and amenities. No concessions apparently. The course is an old style course and has challenging greens. Golf Advisor 4 out of 5 stars. Location is convenient if living in the New Orleans area, great for walkers, beginners and features water hazards as well as narrow fairways and greens. Challenge for average golfer, greens are always in good shape even in the winter. Link style layout with tight fairways. Greens are in good shape, some holes are a little more challenging than others. Great value for the money.
Facebook 4 out of 5 stars. The best course for the lowest price in the area, greens are in always in at least fair shape, great and helpful staff.

Riverlands Golf and Country Club

Golf Advisor 4 out of 5 stars, 32 reviews. Reviewers agree that the layout features lots of variety, the fairways are in good shape and greens are fast. Some bunkers are packed down with dirt and need upgraded however.  Most enjoy the course, the layout, and the fast greens. One of the best affordable places to play in NOLA area. Well-maintained, great for beginners, old style course. Forgiving layout if you slice or hook a drive; for many holes your ball will just end up on another fairway.

Stonebridge gets positive ratings for having a beginner-friendly layout that is still challenging for more experienced golfers and being a great value for the money. Timberlane

Yelp 3 out of 5 stars, 2 reviews. One review said it was one of the better courses in the area, the other said it was only average on every level. Also stressed that it is the worst country club in the area. Scorecards are cheap, course staff is rude, golfers don’t repair ball damage on greens.
Golf Advisor 3 out of 4 stars. 38 reviews. The course is a classic old course with holes tightly bunched, which would make for an easy walk. Not a lot of elevation changes, but the holes take some fairly interesting turns. Good use of water and bunkering to bring in some challenges. Overall, the course is a fun play.
Most reviewers enjoyed the course but say that it’s overpriced. Also recommend bringing own lunch and snacks because food is overpriced.
Well conditioned course for the season. Usually, in the winter time you get dead grass and patches. Not in this case. Still not worth regular price though.
