Golf course architect Ron Garl redesigned Lakewood and upgraded the 7,002 yard course with modern fairways, tee boxes, and greens. His improvements included adding the 444-yard “Fire in the Hole” bunker as a tribute to firefighters and is the only one of its kind. The renovations to the course didn’t take away from the course’s original details though, which made the course a favorite among many golfers. Lakewood is now a combination of both modern and classic golf course features, which makes it a truly unique course.
